ACMI's Best Award went to Walton Compressor

Walton Compressor won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Automation, Control, and Mechatronics 4.0 (ACMI) 2021. The international conference was held on July 8 and 9 through virtual. Organized by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). The award was given to Walton Compressor in the category of 'Machine Dynamics, Mechanics and Industry 4.0' at the international conference.

Walton Compressor received the award for his research paper entitled 'Determination of Starting and Running Torque and Its Effects on a Household Refrigerator Hermetic Reciprocating Compressor'. The research paper was presented on behalf of Walton by two engineers of the compressor R&D (research and development) department. Samiul Islam and Md. Zahid Hasan.

Note that ACMI is one of the top international conferences. It is an ideal meeting place for high-quality education, research, and innovation in the field of electrical engineering and technology. At the international conference, eminent engineers, technologists, scientists, researchers, teachers from America, Australia, China, and other countries discussed various issues in the field of electrical engineering and technology. This year, more than 50,000 participants attended the virtual conference.

The technical co-sponsor of the conference was the Bangladesh branch of the New York-based Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The sponsors were the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and BATCO Engineering.

Talking about the work of the research paper, Walton's Deputy Head of Compressor (R&D) Engineer Samiul Islam said that the input power given to work on the compressor is mainly in the stator. The stator keeps the mechanical parts of the compressor running. Two types of torque are required to keep the mechanical parts running. The first is the starting torque, which is required at the beginning to start the compressor. The second is the running torque, which keeps the compressor running. But measuring the running torque and starting torque of a hermetic compressor directly is a very difficult task and costs a lot. In that paper, a numerical model has been introduced, which allows measuring starting and running torque directly from a 3D design. This will save both time and money.

Rabiul Alam, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Walton Compressor, said the award-winning model of the compressor is already being manufactured at the Walton factory. The special feature of the Walton compressor is that its noise level is very low and it is strong and durable. He said Walton will soon launch a new series of compressors that will use state-of-the-art inverter technology. The compressor performance of this series will be very high. As a result, consumers will get more energy-efficient products.

The international experts of the conference highly appreciated the various steps taken by Walton in the research and production of state-of-the-art compressors in Bangladesh.
