Careful in Downloading Samsung's fake app
Experts advise being careful in downloading Samsung's fake
app
Almost all smartphone users download a variety of apps from the Google Play Store. However, as there are necessary apps in this store, the number of fake apps is not less.
Recently, a fake app called 'Updates for Samsung' in the Play store has been reported to have been downloaded more than one crore times. So
experts warn that there are many fake apps in the Google Play Store, which can
cause damage to Android phones. Because these apps can grab important
information from the smartphone.
Experts from CSIS Security Group, a cybersecurity firm, say
the app makes false promises of Android firmware updates. However, the
information of its online download is eye-catching. Numerous users have
complained about the app, saying it is just a platform for displaying
aggressive ads.
Experts from CSIS Group said in a post on the online publishing
platform Medium that the app is hurting customers' tactics. After installation,
it takes you to an ad firm page. From there, money is sought for firmware updates.
So many customers have complained that even if they pay, no firmware package is
available. Experts have found the same result in the test.
Meanwhile, the app claims that users can unlock the SIM card
by spending money on any operator. It later raised money for SIM unlock through
another source instead of a Google Play subscription.
That's why experts advise users to use the actual source for
any firmware updates. And they suggest updating the software from the settings
menu of the Samsung phone.
